Our Foundation
To help improve the dignity and self-worth of widows and the less privileged by providing the platforms through which they thrive.
Mission
Making a difference (MAD) foundation has as its main objective; to provide aides and basic services aimed at ameliorating the burdens and sufferings of widows in Africa. We do this by providing financial assistance, food, clothing, scholarships for children’s education, business startup loans, medical treatment and general wellness. Also, we help propel government legislations to help the widows and less privileged. Our foundation is out there to make a difference in little ways possible. Like the famous quote: To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived is the very essence of life; this is what we are out there to do. Widows should not have to lose their sense of livelihood because they lost their husbands and breadwinners.
Goals
Provide financial assistance to widows to help them acquire basic needs of life
Provide educational scholarships for their children
Provide startup loans for widows in business
Help widows with their routine medical checkups to enhance general wellness and longevity
Reassurance that they belong to the society, thereby improving their self-worth and giving them a sense of hope
Our History
Giving back to the less privileged is a character trait that I believe was transferred to me by my late father. My father was a retired military officer who died in 2008. While he was in the military, my dad would sometimes travel to his village and give palliatives and financial support to people in need. I have seen my father on multiple occasions buy tomatoes grinding machine (very expensive then) and present them as gifts to women in the village to help them with their businesses. He would buy motorcycles and give as gifts to young men who needed it for transportation business. My Dad loved reaching out to people to make their lives a little more comfortable.
After the passing of my father due to sudden ailment in 2008, it was indeed a struggle to survive for my family because he was the breadwinner of our family. At a point, his monthly pension was stopped by the government (your pension stops after passing) which implies that we don’t receive a penny from the government. It was very difficult, I must confess, for my mother who was left with eight (8) of us. Fortunately for us, my elderly ones had completed their universities’ education, and they supported the others coming behind to finish as well. But for some of these widows, we strive to support through this foundation, they don’t have any form of support system. No help at all from the government or any agencies.
So, when The Lord spoke to my heart to embark on this journey of making a difference, I knew deep within my heart that God has been preparing me for this task. Nothing gives me joy than making a difference in the lives of people and seeing the smile on their faces as a result of that. This is what I am made for.
I want to encourage you to join me in this journey of making a difference in the lives of people, One person at a time; Like the saying; little drops of water makes a mighty ocean. Your gifts and donations will go a long way to help me achieve this vision. You don’t have to be rich to make a difference, it all takes love and sacrifice to do so. You can sacrifice your lunch or coffee money for a day or anything else you deem fit; remember, little drops of water makes a mighty ocean.
Pius Sule
My Father, WO2 (Warrant Officer 2) Pius Sule was a very great man. He lived a short but very impactful life. He was a veteran of the Nigerian Army, after serving for 32 years.
He was a devoted Christian who loved The Lord dearly, and thought his children to follow suit.
He was a great lover of education. Though, he couldn't go pass high school because of financial challenges for his parents; he resolved in his heart that all his children must graduate from University. True to his word, all of his children (10 of us) graduated from University without owing a penny in college loan.
My Father loved helping people while he walked this earth. I strongly believe, I got the mindset to help people from my father. There is a special bond between my Dad and I, that's why when I was born, he named me after him.
I am proud and happy to continue the strides of making a difference in the lives of people, where my father stopped.
I love you Dad, continue to rest in God's bosom till we meet to part no more.
“If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD— and he will repay you.”
